PENERAPAN TERAPI SPIRITUAL EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE UNTUK MENGURANGI KECEMASAN PADA PASIEN GAGAL GINJAL KRONIK
Abstract
Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is characterized by a persistent decline in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) to below 60 mL/min/1.73 m² for a duration exceeding three months, or by the presence of renal damage indicators such as albuminuria, abnormalities in urinary sediment, disturbances in fluid and electrolyte balance, structural kidney abnormalities, or a history of kidney transplantation. Individuals with CKD require renal replacement therapy to sustain survival. Hemodialysis (HD) is one of the primary treatment modalities; however, it is frequently associated with both physical and psychological complications, including anxiety. To address this issue, a range of interventions may be applied, encompassing pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. One non-pharmacological intervention is Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT), which integrates spiritual components with body energy stimulation through gentle tapping on specific meridian points. Purpose: this case study aimed to implement SEFT as an intervention to reduce anxiety levels among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD dr. Gondo Suwarno Ungaran. Type Of Research: A descriptive study design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was employed. The study involved four patients with chronic kidney disease receiving hemodialysis who experienced anxiety. SEFT therapy was administered in accordance with the hemodialysis schedule, twice weekly over a two-week period, with one session conducted per day. Results: the majority of participants were over 60 years old, male, had a high school education, worked in the private sector, and had been undergoing hemodialysis for less than six months. Before the intervention, all respondents were at a moderate level of anxiety. Conclusion: After two weeks of SEFT therapy, all four respondents indicated a decrease in anxiety levels to the mild category. Thus, SEFT therapy has been proven effective in helping to reduce anxiety in patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis.
