EFEKTIVITAS TERAPI GUIDAD IMAGERY TERHADAP PENURUNAN TINGKAT KECEMASAN PADA PASIEN PRE OPERASI
Abstract
Background: Anxiety is a common emotional response experienced by individuals when facing situations perceived as threatening, including medical procedures such as surgery. In addition, anxiety can also interfere with patient readiness to receive health education and reduce compliance with preoperative care procedures. Anxiety that is not managed properly can negatively impact the postoperative recovery process, such as increased analgesic needs, sleep disturbances, and delayed wound healing. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of guided imagery relaxation therapy in reducing pre-operative anxiety levels in patients. Methods: The sample in this study were 5 pre-operative patients treated in the operating room. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria, namely patients who will undergo elective surgery, aged ≥18 years, able to communicate verbally, and willing to be respondents. Exclusion criteria included patients with cognitive impairment, severe hearing loss, or clinical conditions that prevent them from participating in relaxation interventions. This study used the APAIS questionnaire. Results: The results of the study conducted on 5 respondents showed that before being given guided imagery therapy, the average level of anxiety of respondents was 13-18 (moderate anxiety) and after being given guided imagery therapy was 7-12 (mild anxiety). Conclusion: After being given the guided imagery technique to 5 respondents, it was found that the respondents' anxiety decreased from moderate anxiety to mild anxiety, so it was concluded that guided imagery therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels in preoperative patients.References
