Abstract

Background : the family who havemembers are in critical condition and must be treated in the Intensive Care Unit, has a high level of anxiety. Nurses therapeutic communication with the patient's family is expected to provide comfort, increase family trust in the patient's care, so that anxiety experienced by the patient's family can lessen. Method : this research use of quantitative analytic with correlational, and a cross sectional approach. The sample in this research was taken by non probability sampling technique with accidental sampling approach.Univarite analysis uses with frequency distribution tables,and a bivariate analysis done with Spearman Correlation tes. The number of samples in this study was 25 respondents. This research has done ethics tests of previous research. The results : resultof this study showed a rho is got 0.748 and p-value of 0,000 ≤ α (0.05), then Ho was rejected and Ha received, which means there is the relationship of nurses therapeutic communication with family anxiety level. Conclusion: The results of this research suggest that there is the relationship of nurses therapeutic communication with family anxiety level at the Intensive Care Unit of dr. ArioWirawan Lung Hospital Salatiga.
